About the Event
Distance equestrians might need to tie to the trailer, put up a high line, tie to a tree (for ride & tie!), or safely catch a loose horse. Join us for an afternoon at High Cliff State Park trailhead to learn how to tie some of the most handy equestrian knots. Cowboy Steve Wassam is joining FVDET to teach us critical knot skills in his world famous "Knotty Talk". Get hands on practice and coaching for: tying to a trailer, using a hitching post, tying a high line, tying to a tree, making an emergency catch halter - and more!
Ever seen an FVDT member tie their horse using what they call the "bank robbers knot"? It was Cowboy Steve who taught us that!
What to bring:
-chair
-length of rope (a long horse lead rope is fine)
-if you come a little early, we'll be there, feel free to bring your lunch and eat with us
This event is FREE and limited to the first 15 registered guests.
**NOTE: there is a pleasure drive at High Cliff on the same day. There will be many horse carriages in the park that morning. This is a PERFECT opportunity to practice passing driving horses. No organized ride, but you're welcome to come and ride on your own.**
